BMW has confirmed that it will make its next generation engine package available to teams in the World Touring Car Championship next season. The German manufacturer has been developing its 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol unit - the engine specification which will be adopted by the WTCC and World Rally Championship in 2011 - throughout this summer. Anderlecht's Davide Rigon will start tomorrow's opening Superleague Formula race in Adria from pole position after defeating Beijing Guoan's John Martin in the knockout final. Rigon set the pace early on during the knockout stages - recording the fastest time of the day as he did so with 1m06.128s - and lapped the Adria Raceway nearly half a second faster than Martin in the final.

Stoneman - who took a six-point lead in the standings after his victory earlier today - unleashed a 1m22.3s lap in the final minutes to claim the top spot.
